　　Many things happen in our lives, among all these, there are things that we never forget, things that make us proud. Here I would like to share one of these with you, which is an extremely unforgettable experience, my volunteeradventure in summer teaching vacation in a small village. It was in my 3rdgrade in college, I took a teaching vacation in a state-level poverty-stricken county with the youth volunteer association, responding to the call of school. We spent a month there teaching. This month had laid a deep imprint on my memory, we were not only transferring our knowledge, but also successfully raised funds, and advised more children back to school again.

　　However, this process was not smooth at all. At beginning when we went into the poverty-stricken county, the scene was completely different from what we expected. Broken windows, corrupted desks, and ramshacklehouses, all beyond our imagination. The living environment was very poor, and the school was even worse. Many excellent children were forced to quit due to their family pressure. One the children, XiaoBin, whose father was perennial bedridden, and mother remarried, quitted primary school and went to work in order to let his brother continue study. To tell the truth, before contacted with these children, I’d been in my parents’ wings. Although heard of the story of a lot about these situation, it was still a shock when it happened just in front of you. When I sit by them side by side, talked to them face to face, looked at their pure and innocent eyes eye to eye, I eagerly hoped I could do something to help them. So I and our team took counsel with other friends, brought out our living allowance, to help students buying books and school supplies. However, our power is quite limited, there was nothing we could do about students quitting school because of their poverty. We could only post these situations on the internet, to raise money for charity from our college and institution. At the end, we succeed in helping five children back to school using the money raised from our friends, classmates and teachers. In the process of teaching, we found that poverty was not the only reason for children to quit school. Some families were not so poor to raise a child to school, but the parents thought that studying would not make money, on the contrary, it was a waste of money. Since a kid could make money without studying or even graduate from college could not find a job, they would let their kids quit and found some low-level jobs to make money. To change these thoughts, we had a few of home visits, to express our perception of studying, and good examples for studying. Finally, after a week of effort, we successfully persuaded some children back to school.

　　This volunteer event makes me feel very proud, at the same time, it’s also a harvest for me to learn a lot. I know there are millions of children can’t afford to learn and not able to continue studying out there in our country. There still is a long way to go for education of our country, I will make the best of me to help.
